Ivetta Shahbazyan

Ivetta Shahbazyan is a lawyer by education, she holds a Master's degree in European, International and Comparative Law from the French University in Armenia. Her professional background covers human rights, social policy, and regulatory compliance across public institutions, international organizations, and the private sector.
She spent seven years at the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, working in the Children's Rights Protection Unit and eventually leading it. Her work there involved monitoring institutions, handling individual complaints, analyzing legislation, and engaging with government agencies and international partners on human rights issues. She later worked as an expert at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, contributed as a legal consultant to a World Bank–funded social protection administration project, and also provided consultancy to international agencies.
Since 2024, she has been working at SIL Insurance, first as a Methodologist focusing on expanding and refining the company's internal regulatory framework. Currently as a Compliance Officer she is responsible for regulatory adherence, compliance risk monitoring, and policy implementation. She also has experience in lecturing in human rights topics for sector professionals. She holds recent certificates in Compliance, Cyber Insurance, AML, ESG Investing, AI in Financial Services, Strategy and Planning, and is fluent in Armenian, English, French, and Russian.
